WARNING: LONG AS FUCK, AND FULL OF SPOILERS. Any one who reads the WHOLE thing and find the hidden word, send
me the word AND where it's from and what it means, and I will give you a present!
You either love or hate Leon and Ada's relationship in Resident Evil 2. Four years ago I thought it was a cute touch to the game, now I think it was poorly thought out. But whatever the
case, two pretty peoples found each other in a desperate situation and fell in "love".
NOTE- sorry! I need to replay the game and take notes, the details are sketchy and the quotes are…let's just say close enough.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ada's Side of the Romance - - - - - -
(Ada first because you didn't expect it and it makes reading Leon's side funnier)
When Ada and Leon first meet, it's obvious that Ada is just using Leon to help her in her mysterious mission. She needed him to help her move the Van in the parking garage. And after
that, she ran off- twice. When Leon introduces himself to her, she shrugs and directs the attention to a ventilation hole that she needs to reach which his help. The third time Ada runs
into Leon (Or drops in front of him from the ceiling) Leon gives her the "reckless and stupid" speech. Ada obviously doesn't like being talked to like a child and she reminds him that she
was THERE and she KNOWS firmly. And then for reasons not known, Ada decides to do things "his way" as she puts it. She follows him around like a good little helpless girl after this
point. Was it because she realized that he was really desperate to have somebody to boss around on his first day? Was it because she thought he was beautiful? Was it because she
thought she might die on this mission so she wanted to get a piece of that white ass? Was it because she was tired of his bitching? Or was it because she wanted to use him for
something else later on? I'm thinking the last option makes the most sense.
Things turn for the worse when a mysterious woman in a lab coat shoots at Ada. Leon uses his quick reflexes to push Ada out of the way and take the shot bravely. Ada decides to
leave Leon there all wounded and passed out so she can chase the lady, but when they meet up again Ada patches up the wound. After the bandages are poorly applied Ada tells Leon
that she just found out her boyfriend's dead. And Leon shows how bad his memory is with his "Eh? Huh? Your what now?" type response. Ada and Leon keep traveling until they make it
to the, it's a tram, I believe? Well, whatever that thing is that takes them to Umbrella labs. While they ride, Ada gets SERIOUSLY injured, and gives Leon a heart-to-heart talk (or in the
Umbrella Office room thing if you're playing A scenario). Ada tells Leon to go on with out her, and Leon makes the famous "Is it just me, or does nobody ever listen to me." Line again
and tells Ada that it's his job to protect her, and that "We're going to get out of this together." Ada replies with the lovely, "I know I'm not…capable of caring for anyone, but, I don't
want to loose you." And something similar "I know we've only spent a short amount of time together, but I've really enjoyed being with you." While Leon gives us a pointless "I…"
If you're playing A Scenario, Ada turns on Leon. She points the gun at him, and asks him to hand over the G-Virus. Ada has really fallen for Leon at this point (And I use fallen as a
pun. Heehee.) and she's hesitant to shoot him. She finally realizes that she can't because she really…L-L…LOVES him, or something to that extent. She never actually says this,
but it's implied. Anyways, Short story shorter, Ada get shot and fall over railing. Leon tries to rescue her, while she spouts things like "Just let me go, I want to die!" although not that
strait forward. Eventually either Leon lets go or she gets out of his grip and she falls to her "doom".
If you're playing the B Scenario, Leon is screwed but not before Ada comes to save the day! She tosses the G-Virus into the boiling cauldron of doom and Mr. X a.k.a Mr. Me-not-very-
smart jumps over the railing after it. By this time, Ada has suffered significant damage. And all for the man she LOVES. Leon speaks with her and wants to take her with him and such,
but she tells him that she's "Just a woman…nothing less, nothing more." Before they kiss (And the game animators didn't make it very passionate for all our sakes). Then Ada "dies".
So Ada doesn't think much of Leon at first, he was just a solution to a couple of minor problems. But she started to realize that he was a caring officer and he truly cared about her
safety and wanted to protect her. After these realizations, the mission that she came to Raccoon City for didn't even MATTER anymore because she cared to much for this "stranger"
that had done so much to insure her safety as a little bit more than just an officer.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Leon's Side of the Romance- - - - - -
Leon is suspicious when the mysterious Ada Wong Shoots at him and misses in the parking garage of the RCPD. He demands to know who she is and what she was doing in town
anyways. He quickly helps her with the Van, but gets frustrated when she runs off on him. And then gets frustrated again when she runs off on him the second time. Again, we get a
"MAN, why doesn't anyone listen to me." Leon really wants Ada to stay nearby so he can protect her better like a good little officer. When he runs into her again, he apologizes for not
introducing himself earlier, and tells her his name and his job. She shrugs him off and asks for help. When she doesn't come back little Leon is frustrated again, but goes off to get
business done. After Leon deals with a horrid monster, Ada DROPS in on him. He's MIGHTY upset at this point. And yells out her like a worried mother would yell at her son when he's
lost, "Going off like that was WRECKLESS and STUPID, those zombies are EVERYWHERE! Not to mention that thing that got Ben!" After Ada's sarcastic-like response, Leon pauses
and realizes that he might be over reacting and there's no need to yell. He starts to talk more softly and slowly (and that would be even MORE insulting, eh?) and he calmly tells her that
they are not going to get out of the town alive if they don't work TOGTHER, "Okay?". Ada agrees to do things "his way" and stays close to him.
Things go bad when Leon takes a shot for Ada because she was standing there like a deer caught in the headlights. "Watch out!" Leon shouted when he jumped, pushed her out of the
way, and took the bullet. My hero! Leon has the lights knocked out of him for a little while. If you're playing Claire's scenario…I forgot which one it would be, maybe B? You'd get to talk
to Leon for a little bit. Claire exclaims that poor Leon is hurt, but all Leon can worry about is Ada. "Ada went after the sniper" and "I'll be okay. It's, Ada, I'm worried about." Claire finally
agrees to leave him all injured like so she could go in search of this Ada he talked of so much. Leon probably falls out of consciousness afterwards. He wakes up again when he hears
Ada scream, "A, Ada" he stammers. After she is rescued thanks to Leon's efforts, Leon starts to remember he was just shot again and doubles over with pain. He makes some sort of
dry humor like joke thing and Ada gives him some loving…I mean medical attention. Ada then mentions that she just found out her boyfriend is dead. "What?" is Leon's reply. Leon
either forgot she had one, or is wondering how she got the info, or the bullet fucked up his brain. But the news of the death of her boyfriend causes Leon to move in rather quickly.
Leon, you dog, you!
A "romantic" ride on the thing that takes you to Umbrella labs later, a monster claw of terror hurts Ada very badly. (This convo takes place in the actual umbrella lab. In the A scenario)
And Ada tells Leon that he should go on and save himself. Leon will hear nothing of it, and he tells her that they're in this together and that it's his job to protect her. Ada gets a bit
personal with the "I know I'm not capable of caring for anyone, but, I don't want to loose you!" Leon doesn't know what to say after this, we can tell when the moron spouts, "I…" But
Leon has to leave her to fix other problems.
The next time they meet up, B scenario, Leon isn't thinking that it would be a smart thing to start shooting instead of backing up into the wall and looking helpless when he's being
attacked. So Ada comes to his rescue by tossing the G-virus into an iron smelting pool, causing the source of this whole mess to jump into the death trap after it. But Ada didn't
survive the ordeal unharmed. Leon learns over Ada while the dramatic music starts. Leon tells her she'll be alright, I believe. But Ada wants him to stop worrying about her, "I'm just a
woman. Nothing less, nothing more." Says she with a desperate oh so typical womanly type thing in her voice. That must really get Leon's motors running because they kiss after this
point. (Not make out- just KISS.) Then Ada "dies". Leon is VERY depressed. "Ada…No." and then he lets us game players REALLY know just how upset he is when the camera pans
out while he shouts "ADA!" in vain.
If you're playing A Scenario, we get to see Ada's more evil side when she turns on poor Leon. "I can't believe this." He mutters while she tells him to just hand over the sample, "Don't
make me have to shoot you!" "You can't do that" he tells Ada when she points the gun at him, attempting to shoot. She puts her head down, realizing she "can't", but not before Annette
shoots at Ada. She falls over the railing, and Leon is very quick to react. He grabs her hand. Ada tells her it's over now and to just let her go. But Leon replies with, 'Shut up! You're
going to make it!" But either Leon's grip goes bad or Ada just lets go, because she falls. Leon is left very upset. He has a (cute?) little emotional breakdown or…whatever it is. Props to
Capcom for doing such a horrible
(hidden word: ba, weep, gra, na, weep, meenie, bong!)
job. But in any case, Leon throws the G-Virus over the railing because it was all IT'S fault! You bad Virus! It's all your fault Ada's dead. Eh heh…right.
Leon is forced to go on, though. And later on the Train, he goes into the front compartment to be alone so he can say a proper goodbye to Ada.
In Ada's case, it seems Ada has never really met anyone who was as brave and kind as Leon. He risked his life a lot to save her and he's always looking out for her safety. But from
Leon's point of view, Ada is frustrating in the beginning because she won't obey his orders like good little girl. He starts to like her much better when she plays the role of the helpless
female. And the helplessness helped him move in on her. A lot. That sounds a lot like the typical male, but It's the only thing that makes sense!
Final Words
But Do Ada and Leon actually have something going on between them that's not just hormones reacting to an odd and scary situation? I doubt it. I'm swearing to you that there's no
way you can fall head over heels in love with someone in just a few hours. Ada admits that Leon and her have only been together for a short amount of time, but she's really enjoyed
the time they've shared together. And what did they do during which time? Shoot giant spiders, Shoot zombies, run from zombies, run from spiders, walk in icky green slimy water
littered with dead people, and then get attacked by the mutated William Birkins. She enjoyed that? She's an odd person, that Ada. And then there's Leon's side. Ada has done nothing
extra ordinary to earn his affections. Except actually OBEY him for a change. That could have done it, seeing as all Leon wants is somebody to protect and serve. Leon, Loving and
kissing is NOT part of you're protecting and serving oath, you took one step too far.
Something I find Odd
Leon feels a primal urge to have Ada close and protect her. But he tells Claire that he and she should SPLIT UP so they can search for survivors.
Sorry my Analysis is so sketchy and weird. I AM going to re-write this section all pretty-like after I buy a new version of Resident Evil 2 and then replay it and take notes. I don't know
when this will be, though. I feel so horrible having such disgusting content on this website.
