Leon Scott Kennedy's Personality

Whenever there's a Top Video Game Hunks list, Leon's listed with a top spot. The consensus is in, and everyone that doesn't have two empty craters where their eyes should be can agree that Leon is attractive. Particularly in Resident Evil 4, where he somehow manages to be a Verile example of masculinity with a fresh, boyish face and hair style.

But lets get into the evolution of his looks.

Leon, Beta Version

This is the original concept art for Leon. He looks like a boring, cocky clone of Chris Redfield but without his youth or charm. Luckily for the fans, this look was abandoned.

Leon, Resident Evil 2

Leon was a breath of fresh air when he premiered as a young 21-year-old rookie cop. Going against the norm for males in video games at the time, Leon is small in build, cute, boyish, and young. His distinctive 90s hair comes to define his look in later games. Even if the game has shitty graphic (Resident Evil Gaiden, and more recently, N-Gage) they can manage to make a nondescript smear to represent his hair.

This abandoned project featured Leon in an atmospheric haunted-house setting.

Although Leon looks a little older, bigger, and tougher, he's retained his prettiest features from Resident Evil 2. His hair is a little longer and 'updated' but essentially a play on the same famous 90s style.

Claire Redfield looks gorgeous in Resident Evil, Degeneration. So why does Leon have to look like he has a stick shoved up his ass for the entire movie? His eyes look different, instead of his normal wide-eyed look, his eyes look more cat-eyed. His face is furrowed in a deep and permanent frown for the entire movie. Furthermore, his hair is a little TOO long, and it obscures an entire half of his face at times. And if this movie is supposed to continue from where Resident Evil 4 left off, it looks like Leon has lost a little weight since then, he looks a slimmer than he should, making his face look more gaunt and overall more angular.

Not bad, it's still Leon after all, and Leon is hot. But looking at stills from this movie makes me want to chase him down with scissors.

Afterword

Leon Scott Kennedy would not have been as popular as he is today without his fresh faced good looks, but looks aren't everything. Hey, wasn't that Carlos Olivera guy hot, too? Haven't seen him in any subsequent Resident Evil developments. And why is that? Because he was a douche (and couldn't compare with Jill's increased bust size.)

Leon's more than just a pretty face, he's also an intriguing and appealing mix of smart ass and goody goody. Although lately with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Degeneration, it looks like they are moving Leon in the direction of other boring the testosterone driven stereotypes in video games, Leon still remains unique by looking boyish and naive while kicking your ass.
