Conijito.com Information

A lot of people don't really understand the intent of Conijto.com. This is simply my small collective of personal art and website projects. It will soon link to two separate portfolios for my writing and photography respectively. I might make a separate website for the plushies, bags, paintings, prints, and other misc. art I sell Riverside Arts Market and soon- anime/videogame conventions.

Art tutorials are in the works, but for now you can see a couple at my blog. I have two small dedications to Clamp School Defenders Dulkyon and Harlem Beat planned, and I'm actively updating Man in Uniform and some other websites, which can be found here.

About the Owner

Name: Vanessa
Alias: Van

Interests: Art, Design, Photography, Comic Books, Animation, Gardening, Writing, Reading, Retro Music and Records, Traveling, Adventure, Crafting, Thrift, Kitch, Marine Biology, all things fun and funny.

I'm an ambitious and busy young professional with a wry sense of humor that belies my outwardly feminine appearance. Full time Marketing Writer by day, Art vigilante by night. Just like Batman, but I probably get less sleep than he does. My day job encompasses Public Relations, Graphic Design, Web Design, Blogging, and more. I've been designing websites as a hobby for around 10 years. My personal website projects take a back seat to other personal projects I'm developing, but I'm dedicated to getting many website projects that have remained dormant for years complete before the year is up.

In addition to my full time job (50+ hours a week), I sell art at the Riverside Arts Market every other Saturday, I maintain two vegetable gardens, I'm assisting in the development of two nearby community gardens, and I collaborate with friends on art projects whenever possible.

I have a lot on my plate right now, but the learning experience is valuable. I'm gaining experience while doing rewarding work. I still continue to write website content incessantly, a nd I'm filled with ideas for new website projects. You can follow my daily adventures (hyperbole) by following me with the following sources:

Blog (Thrift Core), Flickr (Packaged Rain), Twitter (VanWrites)

Feel free to contact me on aim: corehardpowa or yahoo: gayleonkennedy. I'm a multitasker and I love to chat while writing and working on projects. You might catch me in the evenings on weekdays.

Current Layout

This is a very personal layout, the idea has been floating in my head for a while but I finally acted on it and arranged the still life. Each item pictured represents the current state of my life and my interests.

Vintage Typewriter: One of my only heirlooms, I've loved this typewriter since childhood. This represents my current occupation as a writer.

Notepad and Pen: I'm constantly taking notes. I'm a documentarian, always recording observations, thoughts, and ideas.

I love these tea cups.

Teapot/Tea Cups: I spent 1 hour total driving to my storage shed then digging through boxes of kitchen supplies to find my Rabbit teacups- they were that important for this layout. They are orange, my favorite color. They are Japanese, representing my love of Japanese design. Finally, they feature rabbits. Conijito means rabbit in Spanish. (Roughly, the real word is Conejo).

On Tea: I drink tea throughout the day. I joke that it gives me my great powers. The subtle caffeine jolt is appreciated, but I also appreciate the taste and the routine of steeping the tea. I use a teapot my dad bought back from Japan, smaller than the Japanese teapot pictured (also bought back from Japan).

Camera: I always work with a camera beside me, its silent presence fills me with kinetic energy and inspires me to work. It also represents my love of photography.

Owl Artwork & Books: The Owl art piece is from the Riverside Arts Market. I adore the texture and color. It reads, "A room without books is like a heart without a soul." I agree with this saying, and I have books in every room of my home. The books pictured are a mix of various books I enjoy. These aren't "Favorites"- my definitive favorites aren't very photogenic. Look closely and witness various volumes of Frank Miller's Sin City!

Artwork on the website index was done by my friend Birdie at The Haiku Life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? E-mail me.

What's with all the websites?
I constantly have ideas for new websites. It's fun making and operating more than one. Call me ambitious...or masochistic.

What's this website for?
This domain name was purchased to host all my websites. Right now it's hosting all of my creative endevours until they all find homes of their own. This will always remain my hub for personal website and art projects.

Do you make your own graphics? Code your own websites?
Yes.

And children?
Launch them into the sun.

Do you write this demented content yourself?
Yup.

When are you going to update this crap?
I'm always writing content and I always have ideas. But most of it isn't published online. My problem is that always decide I don't like my writing later on. Thus, lots of content simply languishes on my hard drive. But I'll be revising plenty of it and uploading it soon. Bitches.

What happened to, "insert website"?
It died. There could be various reasons why an old website of mine is gone. 98% of the time it's because I lost the data for it.

Why has 'insert website here' not been updated in years?
I work 50+ hours per week, the go home and work some more on art and such. Prevents updates from happening in a timely fashion.
